AIM Commemorative Forum
– Open Up to the Future

The 1st global rotation of the IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM) was inaugurated in Tokyo, Japan (1997), then in Atlanta, USA (1999), and completed in Como, Italy (2001). In 2022, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of 1st AIM edition in Sapporo, Japan. Now in 2024, we take this opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the AIM global rotation held in North America with an AIM Commemorative Forum in AIM 2024 in Boston.  We will invite past AIM conference chairpersons to share their reflections, insights, and visions for mechatronics in the years to come. We also wish to take the opportunity to discuss the open-up for the future of AIM conference through this Commemorative Forum.  Mechatronics is an interdisciplinary subject contributing to enabling technology for manufacturing, automation, robotics, IoT, and many domain-specific applications like healthcare, environment, sustainability, and energy. AIM, as an offspring flagship conference of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics (TMech), will continue to promote emerging research topics in mechatronics and play a crucial role in shaping the future industry in the age of AI & Robotics.
